happy 2012!

Happy New Year from Change the Word!

As you nurse your champagne hangovers (or maybe you had better self control than most people, and you feel great) I hope you will join me in looking forward to the new opportunities and adventures that await us in the new year.

I know the clock hitting midnight and ringing in the new year doesn't mean everything magically changes. You probably feel like the same person you were yesterday. You are still the same. But you don't have to be. You always have the power and ability to become whatever you want. You just have to make the change.

Change can come at any time, not just at the start of a new year. But why not make it happen, now?

A couple weeks ago, my sister and I went to have our Tarot cards read. I believe we all determine our own destiny, but I was curious to find out what the cards said for me. One statement the card reader made stood out, and it's great advice.

"Get out of your own way. Stop making excuses and doubting yourself. If you have a goal go for it. You will do well, but be patient."

This advice is true for anyone. If you want to succeed, you have to believe in yourself and know why you are doing what you do. You have to stop making excuses and go for it.

That is my challenge to you — get out of your way and become the person you want. Take control of your life and your future by making the present count.

With that, let's have a toast to 2012. Make it your year.
